Most organisations have been focussed on the election that just occurred in the UK and with this over you may be thinking that your democratic duties are done for a few years. Nothing could be further from the truth.
I recently wrote an article on how to take back Parliament & Local Government in the UK that sets out where the real political power is and in order that WAPF has the greatest influence possible I am encouraging members and followers to engage LOCALLY at a deeper level to ensure that our voice is heard whatever Party you support, or which ever is closest to your conscience. If you do choose to engage please discuss your thoughts on our forum about how to push for the policies that we want to see. Also how we can educate locals involved in politics, e.g. you can invite me to speak on Nourishing Traditional Diets to your local association.
The key principle I explore is that whilst voting is important it probably counts for 20% of your democratic duty. Where the political landscape really changes is in your local political associations. Around 1% of Brits are members of a political party and it is the members who vote at AGMs for their local Executive Council that determines local policy and selects candidates for elections. Members also attend hustings to select their candidate for MP.
For example, if your local political association is for lockdown, you can vote against pro lockdown candidates for the Executive Council and you can put yourself forward for positions. It is the membership of the local associations that make the difference between a lockdown MP and an anti-lockdown MP, they respond to votes at AGM's and hustings, not to letters from residents who are not engaged at the local level.
